Season 5 Start Date and News

Supernatural's season 5 will begin airing on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 9/8c on The CW Network in the USA.

This is the earliest season launch ever for Supernatural in all it's seasons on The CW. Significantly, this early start means that the season premiere episode will air unchallenged by new episodes from the other major TV networks' regular Thursday lineups. [supernatural season 5 sign]Hopefully, if Supernatural attracts a portion of those networks' audience and if enough new viewers stick around after the daunting competition from The Office on NBC (9/17), Fringe on FOX (9/17), CSI on CBS (9/24), and Grey’s Anatomy on ABC (9/24) return from their summer hiatus, then The CW may dip into their pockets to keep Kripke around for a 6th season of Supernatural. I am keeping my fingers crossed for this to happen.

Filming for season 5 has already begun at the Vancouver, BC studios in Canada. The premiere episode, preliminarily titled, Sympathy for the Devil, will introduce the new recurring character of Lucifer to be played by Mark Pellegrino, currently of Lost and formerly of Dexter. I saw Pellegrino in his former role as Layla's (um, I mean Rita's) abusive ex-husband in the first season of Dexter and he was outstanding. I think he'll be just as “grate” on Supernatural. In other season 5 news, two popular female characters from previous seasons are expected to return for an episode or two in Season 5. They are Jessica Moore, Stanford student and Sam's dead girlfriend played by Adrianne Palicki, and Ellen Harvelle, bar owner and mother figure from season 2, played by Samantha Ferris. It will be good to see these strong female characters who are not evil (I hope) return. Not only are the actresses great in their roles, their estrogen is desperately needed to offset the excess of testosterone in the season 5 cast caused by the killing off of nearly all the recurring female character from season 3 and season 4.

I can’t wait till the new season of Supernatural, It is the coolest show on air today in my opinion. I am especially looking forward to Sam and Dean fighting Lucifer this season. Hope everyone watches so they won’t cancel it when it is just getting good.

SUPERNATURAL is simply the ONLY show I watch without missing an episode. I love the chemistry between Jensen and Jared. I also love the subject matter, so it’s all good in my book! I sincerely hope Season 5 will generate enough viewers overall to promote Season 6! Good Luck, CW!!!
