Suggestive Letter To Kripke#1: Uncensored Downloads
A Suggestion: Uncensored Episodes Download
Dear Kripke and CW Executives,
I have an idea that could significantly improve sales of Supernatural on iTunes and very likely, bring in a lot more viewers: Make an uncensored version of each episode available for download after the censored version airs on network TV.
Supernatural is in a genre that loses it’s umph because of the restrictions of network TV. This could be a way to bring it back and attract new viewers at the same time. Plus, an uncensored download version would give the current TV viewers who already record the show, an incentive to buy the download. And it caters to the pervs (the fangirls, like myself), to the bloodthirsty horror freaks (i.e. the current SPN viewers), and to the people who prefer to watch meatier programs on cable (Dexter!) instead of the watered down network tv shows.
There is plenty on Supernatural that would improve without the network censorship. We know Dean has a potty mouth, so let’s really hear it for a change. I personally, would like to see expanded versions of the Dean’s sex scene in Route 666 and Sam’s lovemaking in Heart. If there were even the tiniest glimpse of either men’s butt in an uncensored version of those episodes, the fangirl’s downloads would clog the internet and crash iTunes.
Think of how much you could improve the scariness of SPN, if you splashed blood and gore around more liberally on the screen. Characters die violently on the show all the time, but we’ve yet to see outright spewing blood and exposed organs; The demon exorcism rituals could be a lot scarier with foaming at the mouth and foul language to go along with it; And the bodies unearthed from graves could have squiggily things still moving around in them [eeww…I’ve grossed myself out with that one]. You get the idea, these kind of scenes could be included in a download (and more scary) version of the show and edited out of the network tv version. This may be the way to attract the record audiences that we know Supernatural can bring in for The CW.
