Both interviews are spoilery, but not overly so…Kripke can be very mysterious about the show, when he wants to be.

Congratulations to Jared Padalecki and Sandra McCoy on their engagement!

Jared broke the news at the Supernatural Convention in LA. He proposed to Sandy in Paris, France, and on their 4th anniversary too. Awww. Who know he was such a romantic? Here’s a youtube video of Jared talking about it to fans.

Sandy seems like a sweet girl and they make a cute couple, despite the huge height difference. If you are curious to learn more about Sandy there’s a nice interview on TV of the Absurd.com

Great news! According to E!Online, Supernatural is on the official list of CW shows being picked up for the fall 2008-09 season. That means our show has been renewed for a 4th season! Whoohoo! This is the earliest renewal announcement I have ever seen for Supernatural. It’s even in time to make a wonderful birthday gift for Jensen.

Yes, it is true. According to the New York Daily News, our Papa Winchester, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is engaged to his former “Weeds” costar, Mary-Louise Parker. She’s a lucky girl. I’d hate her, if I didn’t already love her from that show. Here’s the link to the article.

4/11/2008 Update:

I am sorry to report that JDM’s engagement to MLP has come to an end. Their disengagement was amicable according to the Associated Press.

Both these actors deserve to find happiness after their previous bad relationships, but alas it looks like that won’t be with each other.

It is now week two of the Writer's Guild of America strike and there's no sign of a settlement. This is not good. Supernatural is still filming new episodes but that will end in December without a strike settlement. According to Michael Ausiello’s Strike Chart, Supernatural will air at most only 6 more new episodes because being forced into re-runs indefinitely.

In an impromptu interview with fans “devidarkwolf” and “spadada” at the Warner Bros. picket line, Eric Kripke himself, said that there's only one more Supernatural script left to be filmed and…if the strike ended sometime within the month, they could “pick up and start filming without missing a beat.” But if the strike lasted into January, they might have to cut back on episodes OR they would have to halt production, leaving the total episodes for this season at only 12. The latest news has the Governor of California, Arnold Swartzenager, talking to both sides. I hope he is able to help them see reason and come to an agreement. The last thing Supernatural needs is a shortened season which could lead to a premature cancellation of the series.

12/06/07 Update:

Supernatural will shutdown all production at their Vancouver studios this week. On the bright side, talks has resumed and moderate progress is being made toward a negotiated settlement.

2/07/08 Update:

Good News!!! A tentative deal has been made between the studios and the writer's guild.
It will voted on by the full WGA membership this Saturday, Febuary 9th, 2008 and it is expected to pass. The strike may soon be over. Thank God!!!

For those of you worried about facing a tough few months of Supernatural deprivation and withdrawal come spring, I have some interesting news:

This April, a new 6-issue, graphic novel mini-series from DC Comics will be hitting the newstands. It is called Supernatural: Rising Son and, like Supernatural: Origins, is a prequel to the television show. The focus of this series is the Winchester family itself, with John, an 11-year old Dean, and Sam at age 7. Peter Johnson of Supernatural: Origins and Rebecca Dessertine are the writers. Panel art is by Diego Olmos. A 3-page sneak peak at issue #1 is available for download at the DC Comics web site.

Many Supernatural fans, like myself, are worried that this great show may not be renewed for a 4th season. One fan has started an online petition campaign in an early effort to influence the network to keep Supernatural on the air for another year.

Save Supernatural is a real petition on youChoose.net that fans can “sign”. It requires that petitioners enter their name, DOB, and an email address that is used to validate the signature. Whether the results will actually be sent to The CW Network is uncertain, but over 4,500 fans have already signed. If you feel strongly that this show deserves to be kept on the air, then you should too.

The first issue of the official Supernatural Magazine will be hitting US newsstands on November 27, 2007, just in time for the holidays. Pre-orders and annual subscriptions (6 issues) are already being accepted at various online vendors. You can learn more and get a peek at some of the articles inside this debut issue on Titan Magazines' web site.

Michael Ausiello has an interesting tidbit about who will play the Crossroads demon in an upcoming episode of Supernatural. It is someone who fans are familiar with. Head over to his blog on tvguide.com to find out who. The Supernatural info is smack in the middle of his other show scoops. You'll have scroll down to the middle of the page to see it. I missed it the first time, myself.

The 6th and concluding issue of Supernatural Origins, the comic book prequel series about John Winchester's transformation into a badass supernatural hunter will go on sale at US retailers on Oct. 31, 2007 (yay Halloween!).

Still not convinced? This witty "comiccommentary" by CaffieneKitty may help (or not as the case may be). It is spoilery for Origins #1 and #2 and Supernatural season 1, but it is so hysterically funny that it is worth the read.

Former tropical depression, Dean has turned into a category 5 hurricane and is leaving a swath of destruction in it’s wake. Oh wait…doesn’t this sound a little like Supernatural’s season two? Of course, any tropical storm named after our favorite character, Dean, would just have to become a powerfully dangerous hurricane. It's interesting to note that so far, Dean hasn't caused the kind of death and destruction that you would expect of such a powerful storm. Let's hope it stays that way and Dean avoids landfall in any high population area. If only there was a "Sam" out there helping to steer Dean on a less destructive path.

8/23/07 Update: "Dean will be remembered for being a very intense hurricane that could have done a lot more than it did". The NY Times is reporting that Dean caused far less damage than expected because it struck in areas with relatively low population densities and little infrastructure…Oh wow, maybe Sam was alongside Dean after all and we just couldn't see him because of Dean's "larger than life" intensity.

Let's hope that is it for the analogy between Dean and "Hurricane Dean". I certainly don't want our Dean to have the same kind of short lifespan…though Kripke will probably keep us hanging about that until the season 3 finale.

The huge Comic-Con 2007 event occured this past weekend in San Diego, CA. The Supernatural panel was on Saturday 7/28/07 and consisted of Eric Kripke-creator, Ben Edlund-producer, Sera Gamble-producer, and Jensen Ackles-actor. Jared Padalecki missed his flight and didn’t make it. I was not in attendance myself, but plenty of other Supernatural fans were. Here are some links to articles and posts about this event.
