Season 3 Casting News

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Michael Ausiello has an interesting tidbit about who will play the Crossroads demon in an upcoming episode of Supernatural. It is someone who fans are familiar with. Head over to his blog on tvguide.com to find out who. The Supernatural info is smack in the middle of his other show scoops. You'll have scroll down to the middle of the page to see it. I missed it the first time, myself.

Origins Series Last Issue

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Cover art of origins#6The 6th and concluding issue of Supernatural Origins, the comic book prequel series about John Winchester's transformation into a badass supernatural hunter will go on sale at US retailers on Oct. 31, 2007 (yay Halloween!).

If you’re still on the sidelines about buying Supernatural Origins, here’s a free preview from CWTV.com.

Still not convinced? This witty "comiccommentary" by CaffieneKitty may help (or not as the case may be). It is spoilery for Origins #1 and #2 and Supernatural season 1, but it is so hysterically funny that it is worth the read.

“Hurricane” Dean

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Updated 8/23/07.

Former tropical depression, Dean has turned into a category 5 hurricane and is leaving a swath of destruction in it’s wake. Oh wait…doesn’t this sound a little like Supernatural’s season two? Dean runningOf course, any tropical storm named after our favorite character, Dean, would just have to become a powerfully dangerous hurricane. It's interesting to note that so far, Dean hasn't caused the kind of death and destruction that you would expect of such a powerful storm. Let's hope it stays that way and Dean avoids landfall in any high population area. If only there was a "Sam" out there helping to steer Dean on a less destructive path.

Hurricane dean from orbit8/23/07 Update: "Dean will be remembered for being a very intense hurricane that could have done a lot more than it did". The NY Times is reporting that Dean caused far less damage than expected because it struck in areas with relatively low population densities and little infrastructure…Oh wow, maybe Sam was alongside Dean after all and we just couldn't see him because of Dean's "larger than life" intensity.

Let's hope that is it for the analogy between Dean and "Hurricane Dean". I certainly don't want our Dean to have the same kind of short lifespan…though Kripke will probably keep us hanging about that until the season 3 finale.

Supernatural at Comic-Con 2007 Links

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Comic-Con LogoThe huge Comic-Con 2007 event occured this past weekend in San Diego, CA. The Supernatural panel was on Saturday 7/28/07 and consisted of Eric Kripke-creator, Ben Edlund-producer, Sera Gamble-producer, and Jensen Ackles-actor. Jared Padalecki missed his flight and didn’t make it. I was not in attendance myself, but plenty of other Supernatural fans were. Here are some links to articles and posts about this event. Please note that most of these links contain season 3 spoilers.

Kripke Reassures Fans About Season 3

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Season 3 iconAddressing fan concerns about what the addition of new regulars means for direction of Supernatural in season 3, Eric Kripke asserted that "We won’t be One Tree Hill with monsters!". You can read the full interview in Michael Ausiello's report at TVGuide.com. Be warned though, it is very spoilery.

Supernatural Season 3 Premiere Delayed

Friday, July 20th, 2007

Season 3 iconThe CW Source has listed the CW Fall 2007 premiere schedule and Supernatural is second to last on Thursday, Oct 4. This is a week later than originally scheduled and it's disappointing. Fan reactions have been generally negative. Personally, I prefer to think of this as a positive sign that The CW has the confidence in Supernatural that they believe it can withstand the delay without losing it's audience base.

Happy 25th Birthday JP

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

young JaredToday, July 19, 2007, is Jared Padalecki's 25th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jared! I hope you have a kiss-ass birthday celebration. Ah, to be so young again.

More Season 3 Spoiler News

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

Season 3 iconE!Online is reporting that Supernatural's second season 3 recurring character has been cast:

The role of Bela, the mercenary, will be played by newcomer, Lauren Cohan. This actor is from Pennsylvania, british educated, brunette, and about the same age as Jared Padalecki (Sam). You can see a photo of her at IMDb.com.

There are hints that this character will be Dean's love interest and some fans are reacting badly to this. I don’t see why there’s such a fuss about it. The Dean that we've all gotten to know and love, sees all women as potential "love interests", for a one night, anyway. I would love to see Bela give our slut boy a little taste of his own medicine ala Boomerang ;-)

Origins Author Peter Johnson Responds to Fans

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

SPN Origins iconPeter Johnson, the author of Supernatural Origins answered questions and responded to fan outrage about the comic's departure from show canon at MediaVillage.com.

Read the comments to see the fans arguments and how they influenced the author to change the comic book's direction. It's quite facinating and illustrates the fandom's power to impact the show/comic. Here are the links:

I must say I completely agree with the fan's side about the impala, but I will reserve judgement on the rest until I've actually read the comics.

A Season 3 Spoiler Update

Friday, July 13th, 2007

Season 3 iconFor those of you who read Michael Ausiello's Supernatural season 3 spoiler in June, he now has more information about a new show regular who is going to make an appearance in the season 3 premiere:

The part of the female demon hunter, Ruby, will be played by Katie Cassidy, a 20-year old actress and daughter of 70’s teen idol, David Cassidy. Here’s the link to Ausiello’s blog. It includes a photo of the actress.

I don’t know anything about this actress as I have never seen her before. I just hope her role of Ruby is that of a woman who is a bit older than the actress herself. A 20-year old demon hunter just doesn’t ring true. It would take years of skill and practise to become a good demon hunter rather than becoming demon bait.

A First Supernatural Season 3 Spoiler

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Edit: SPN Season 3 premiere has been moved back a week to Oct. 4, 2007

Supernatural’s 3rd season is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 27, 2007 and the first season three spoiler is already out.

According to Michael Ausiello of tvguide.com there’s going to be a couple new additions to the cast of regulars:

Here is what Ausiello wrote:
“Big scoop! The show is adding two new series regulars next season, both of them female and, based on the casting breakdowns, insanely doable. The first one is described as a beautiful, funny and confident mercenary who lacks a conscience, and the other is an enigmatic demon hunter who is sexy, brutal and ruthless. So ruthless that I hear she’s going to make Sam and Dean look like the Hardy Boys”.

Here’s the link: http://www.tvguide.com/Ask-Ausiello/070613.

Sounds very interesting! I wonder if we’ll get to see these women beat up Dean? He does seem to get knocked around by women a lot. When he is not trying to knock boots with them, that is. ;-)
