Suggestive Letter to Kripke#3: What's In A Name

August 28th, 2007 | Posted in Suggestive Letters To Kripke | No comments

Dear Mr. Kripke,

I'm back with another unsolicited suggestion. Hopefully, a timely one that you can actually use for season 3.

OK, here goes. I was thinking about how to make Supernatural's season 3 stand out in the ever-growing crowd of TV shows on network and cable when it hit me. Why the heck are we calling season 3, season 3? Let’s give season 3 it's own moniker. Season 3 should be called something like, “Supernatural 3: A Hellish Ride”. This would stand out on the TV schedule and make potential viewers take a second look.

Also, why not retroactively give season 2 and season 1 their own labels as well. Season 2 could be, “Supernatural 2: Demon Driven, and season 1, “Supernatural 1: Nightmares in Traffic”. As you can see, I am enamored of names that play on the roadtrip aspect of the show - that's a major part of Superatural’s appeal to me. I bet giving the seasons a moniker would attract the attention of the media as well. No one else on network TV is doing it (not that I know of, anyway). God knows, Supernatural could use the free publicity.

I have taken the liberty of applying the above monikers to Supernatural's seasons in the Episode Guide on this site. Why not take a look and see how you like it.

Sincerely, -Hellioness

Suggestive Letter to Kripke#2: Grown-ups needed

Dear Mr. Kripke,

Last week, I saw Sci Fi's list of genre shows on network TV by ratings and to my horror, Supernatural was last on the list. It looks like the temporary Sunday schedule did not help Supernatural much. Here is an unsolicited suggestion about how to improve Supernatural's ratings.

First of all, I think that Supernatural has low ratings not because it doesn’t get enough promotion and not entirely because of it's timeslot, but mainly because this excellent show is painted with the same label as most shows on The CW- it is seen as a teen program showcasing pretty, young actors. With this label, it is never going to be given serious consideration by your average time-constrained, adult viewer when they sit down to watch TV. From the looks of things right now, the new season 3 additions will only cement that reputation.

Suggestive Letter To Kripke#1: Uncensored Downloads

A Suggestion: Uncensored Episodes Download

Dear Kripke and CW Executives,

I have an idea that could significantly improve sales of Supernatural on iTunes and very likely, bring in a lot more viewers: Make an uncensored version of each episode available for download after the censored version airs on network TV.

Supernatural is in a genre that loses it’s umph because of the restrictions of network TV. This could be a way to bring it back and attract new viewers at the same time. (more…)
